astronomy picture of the day

Rosemary

This popped up on the Astronomy Picture of the Day website, which I always look at.

It’s not astronomy, nor is it a picture — well, not a single picture, not exactly.

But I’m glad they showed it, because it made me very happy.

You want to go full-screen for this. You absolutely do. Trust me.

I’ve enjoyed his videos; I gave him money for this one and the previous one.

The last scene in this one always makes me tear up.

Dance is the breath of life IMNSHO. Loved the video; loved the seal (sea lion?). Thanks!

I happy-cried all the way through that. Thank you for sharing it, as I haven’t seen it anywhere else. I needed this today!

There is an outtakes video, btw; it has more of the sea lion. (Oh, and yes, you can tell it’s a sea lion, because it can walk on land. True seals don’t have rear flippers that rotate, so they have to move like a snake or caterpillar on land. Now, normally, I wouldn’t bother being so technical and pedantic, but this is Rosemary Kirstein’s blog, and I feel it’s what Rowan would do. 8-))

Apparently I’ve been missing this for ages, so thank you! I really, really needed a reminder that the world is awesome today. And this fit the bill.
