Just checking in…
The deep dive I planned for January proved not as deep as planned, due to life-type chores and some other things that required a bit more attention than I had expected…
Result: Doin’ it again for February. So far, just a couple of appointments, and a couple of Zoom social events…
So, if you were expecting an email that you haven’t got yet, this is why.
I might take a day to clear up the backlog… then back into the fray.
In other news:
Author Catherynne M. Valente caught COVID19. And not the semi-friendly version. Pop over to Twitter and wish her well! (@catvalente) And/or sign up for her Patreon , which I did the other day.
My inspiration for doing that was this amazing rocket that she built for her son — go and check it out, and be in awe!
Be sure to scroll or click to see ALL the pictures.
I’m also reading a book of hers (technically a novella, I think):
I had heard her read from it at a previous Readercon, and loved the excerpt. So, naturally, in my head Tetley Abednigo speaks with her voice now.
Also:
Genrette Laurie J. Marks sent me a drawing of hers:
You know how much I’ve been raving about Laurie’s art. Now I have one to keep!
Heck– it just turned past midnight, meaning that this is a February post and not a January post. Except for you folks in other time zones…
Well, better get back to it…

It’s 10:24pm right now, January 31st, in my neck of the woods. So it’s still a January update for me!

Hooray! Squashed the deadline (technically)!

Cat Valente might now be the very reason I choose to re-engage with Twitter. That rocket! Oh my old mother’s heart. Now another one of my favorite writers is menaced by Health Concerns of Magnitude.

I know this has the flavor of a boorish guest, a late arrival, not. taking the time to watch the regular guests, learn the protocol, and only then essay an approach to discussion . . .
. . . and I willingly accept the label in search of understanding. Specifically: I just this month discovered and read the four extant books in the Steerswoman series. I see that five and six are in progress.
But I also cannot help but notice that the first four are roughly twenty years old now, and so I find myself wondering if perhaps “in progress,” is more of a kind euphemism.
I realize, of course, that no author owes me a book and more than Elon Musk owes me a car. If one is for sale, I can buy it; if not, then I have no standing to demand it.
Nor am I demanding anything. But, if I may be so bold as to ask . . . is there any,um, firmer . . . update on release dates?

Sorry about the delay replying — inexplicably, WordPress no longer sends me a note when someone posts a comment!
But the answer is:Alas, no… no firmer update on release dates. Works (those and others) are in process, but various things/events/stuff/situations are keeping progress from being predictable. At this time. Working on alleviating all that…
